The shocking Hazard miss after he’d rounded the goalkeeper when he could have extended their lead to two
The Fans mock Hazard for his incredible miss in Madrid clash
Eden Hazard missed a glaring opportunity to score during Real Madrid’s unconvincing 1-0 win over Galatasaray at the Champions League group stage.
The forward created a chance to double his side’s lead in the second half in Istanbul when he dribbled past home goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, but he inexplicable managed to fire onto the crossbar from eight yards.
Thankfully, the Belgian wasn’t made to pay for his error. Toni Kroos’ 18th-minute strike separated the sides as Los Blancos recorded their first European win of the season.
But questions remain as to whether Hazard will succeed in Spain, having produced one goal and two assists in his first seven appearances.
The miss at Galatasaray symbolised Hazard’s underwhelming start at Real, and football fans on social media couldn’t help but stick the knife in.
One person described the attempt as ‘miss of the season’ while another asked: ‘How will be able to explain to future generations that Eden Hazard missed from there?’
The shocking Hazard miss
Eden Hazard couldn’t believe it as a second half effort during Real Madrid’s 1-0 win at Galatasaray rattled the crossbar.
The Belgian received the ball from Karim Benzema and did the hard part by rounding Fernando Muslera.
However, in front of a semi-open goal – as there was a defender tracking back – the Belgian fired his shot off the woodwork.
Hazard had four total shots in this match, but it wasn’t his night in front of goal even if he did provide the assist for Toni Kroos’ strike.
