Valverde to be sacked as Xavi ready for the job

Barcelona head coach Valverde to be sacked soon as Xavi has agreed to coach his former team Barcelona.

Oscar Grau and Eric Abidal met with Xavi in Qatar on Friday and have stayed in the country to wait for he Al-Sadd coach’s decision, which will be given at a meeting on Sunday.

A two-and-a-half year deal was put on the table if he took charge of the team in the next few days, but if he decides against it, then Valverde would remain in the position with Xavi offered a two-year contract, starting in the summer.

Xavi ready for Barcelona job

Xavi has been mulling over the offer and is in no rush to make a decision, so it seems like an immediate move to the Barcelona bench is unlikely. However, no final conclusion has been reached.

It has always been Xavi’s dream to coach Barcelona and in the next few hours his decision will be known.

Should he say yes, then a negotiation with Al-Sadd to finalise his separation from the Qatari side, who has insisted that any move from Barcelona to take Xavi should be made through the official channels.

Valverde to be sacked

Al-Sadd are aware that Xavi and Barcelona are in discussions, and haven’t yet completely closed the door on the fact that he might leave.

The only thing which is 100 percent clear is that Valverde has lost the confidence of the Barcelona hierarchy who are now looking for a replacement, either now or in June.

Barcelona want a quick response from Xavi as the squad resume training on Monday, when there is also a meeting of the management team.

Fuming Valverde feels badly treated by Barcelona

Ernesto Valverde feels badly treated by Barcelona. He has been hurt by the Spanish Super Cup defeat by Atletico but is more upset about how no club representative has got in touch with him to tell him about his future one way or another.

He is alone. Valverde is finding out what the club are up to through the media. He’s not officially aware of the negotiations with Xavi Hernandez but full well knows that is going on.

Valverde’s upset comes rom the club’s silence. Josep Maria Bartomeu, Barca’s president, is set to meet with Valverde in the coming days but for now nobody has spoken. Valverde is pissed off.
